New House, Thorpeness
Thorpeness is an unusual place. It was the vision of one man, and was built during the early 20th century as a private holiday resort. The settlement has a number of stylish buildings, and at the centre of the village is The Meare, a boating lake with islands and many references to J M Barrie’s acclaimed novel Peter Pan.
We have been asked to demolish a 1960s bungalow which occupies an elevated site looking towards The Meare. Our design is for a new family home that combines arts and crafts styling with the eccentric detailing of Thorpeness.
