Arts & Crafts Remodelling, Suffolk

Our brief was to sensitively enlarge and rationalise an early 20th century house, including the provision of access to an existing attic bedroom (accessible only by ladder), updating services, and re-detailing the interior in an Arts and Crafts manner. The house occupies a highly sensitive location opposite a Grade I listed church in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Conservation Area.

Poorly constructed 1970s flat roof additions were demolished and our design proposed a two storey side addition (with stair up to attic bedroom) and a single storey library. We also prepared a design for a new courtyard garden, with entrance gate and canopy shelter providing access from a back lane.
