Terraced House Restoration, Suffolk

When we visited this property two things were clear; the character of the house had been seriously eroded by a number of mid to later twentieth century alterations, and that with a little intervention it would be possible to restore and enhance not only the property in question but also the entire terrace.

Located within a Conservation Area, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) we received support and approval from the Local Authority to reinstate sash windows, strip paint, restore the original red and Suffolk white brickwork and to redesign the street facing front dormer (with glass sides to take advantage of a distant sea view). Internally, modern partitions were removed and the staircase reconfigured to suit the re-ordered first and second floor accommodation.

While this was a relatively small project for us, we were pleased to be involved in a project that not only remodelled the plan form to suit the specific needs of our clients, but provided significant enhancement of a Conservation Area and an attractive late 19th century terrace.
